Glossary

Every term, in one line.

Plain definitions of the words used across the site, the docs and the API. If a page uses a technical term, it is defined here.

Knowledge Twin
A structured memory of how one person, team or company works: the people, deals and decisions they know and the judgment they apply. Agents work from a twin under each person’s permissions. More →
User twin
A Knowledge Twin of one user of your app. In the API this object is called the User Graph.
Space
A container for memory with its own access rights, one per team, project or client. A query never returns anything outside the Spaces its asker may see.
Memory Graph
Where Chordian keeps what it knows: a bi-temporal memory graph of people, companies, deals, decisions and the sources behind them.
Bi-temporal
Every fact has two dates: when it was true in the world, and when the memory learned it. That is how the memory can answer both “what is true now?” and “what did we believe in March?”
Entity coherence
Keeping one identity per person, company and deal across every system, resolved when data comes in rather than when a question is asked.
Contradiction detection
When two sources disagree, the conflict is flagged with a confidence score instead of one fact silently overwriting the other.
Data loss prevention (DLP)
Sensitive data is detected at ingest and masked before it reaches an agent.
Decay
Stale facts lose confidence over time and fresh signals rise, at rates set per source and per kind of entity.
Memory health
A nightly A to F grade showing how fresh, consistent and complete a memory is.
Memory rot
What happens to memory nobody maintains: it goes stale, contradicts itself, and leaks as more people share it.
Write-back
Every search, chat and agent run updates memory automatically, so it grows with use.
Reciprocal Rank Fusion (RRF)
The method that merges the ranked results of all seven retrieval paths into one ranked answer, without hand-tuned weights.
Model Context Protocol (MCP)
An open standard for connecting AI tools to outside systems. Chordian’s MCP server gives any compatible agent a memory with one install command.
Zero trust
Nothing is trusted by default. In Chordian that means every request is authenticated, every query is scoped on the server, and every answer is sourced. More →
BYOC (bring your own cloud)
Chordian running inside your own AWS, GCP or Azure account, so data never leaves your VPC.
Air-gapped
A deployment in your own data center with no outside connection. Nothing is pulled from the public internet.
Hybrid post-quantum transport
Transport encryption that combines a classical key exchange with a post-quantum one, protecting traffic recorded today against decryption later. Applied on supported paths.
