Why Chordian
How Chordian compares to the tools and approaches teams consider.
Data infrastructure
Build it yourself
The status quo
Assistant alone vs. assistant with Chordian.
Claude is the reasoning. Chordian is what it reasons on.
Claude is an excellent model. On its own it doesn't hold your organization's governed knowledge, maintain live sourced data at scale, or enforce your access policies across agents. Chordian connects to Claude via MCP and adds exactly that.
| Claude alone | Claude + Chordian | |
|---|---|---|
| Live web intelligence at scale | Built-in web search per session | 150M+ IPs, 195 countries, up to 500 parallel agents |
| Sources, confidence, conflicts | Citations | Sources plus confidence plus contradiction flags on every finding |
| Your organization's knowledge | What you paste or connect per session | Governed Chordian Memory, Entity Coherence, always current |
| Access control | Account-level | ABAC per user and per agent, tenant isolation |
| Audit | — | Tamper-evident trail of every call |
| Deployment | Vendor cloud | Chordian Cloud, BYOC, on-prem, air-gapped |
Keep ChatGPT. Govern what it knows.
ChatGPT's memory is personal and conversational; Chordian Memory is organizational, permission-scoped, sourced and maintained.

Gemini reasons. Chordian supplies governed, live intelligence.
Setup: Gemini CLI via MCP, or the Chordian API.

Plumbing vs. intelligence.
A vector database stores embeddings. Chordian delivers intelligence.
Pinecone is a strong managed vector database for similarity search. Teams that pick it still have to source the data, clean it, resolve entities, detect conflicts, keep it current and govern access themselves. Bottom line: use a vector database if you're building retrieval yourself. Use Chordian if you want the intelligence, not the plumbing.
| Pinecone | Chordian | |
|---|---|---|
| Stores and searches vectors | ✓ | ✓ (one of seven retrieval paths) |
| Collects live data from the web | — | ✓ Agentic Crawler, Proxy Search |
| Entity Coherence and duplicate detection | — | ✓ |
| Contradiction detection, bi-temporal history | — | ✓ |
| Answer-time DLP, ABAC, audit | Build it yourself | ✓ |
| Air-gapped with sovereign model | — | ✓ |
A knowledge graph is a project. Chordian is the running system.
Building a graph means modeling, ingesting, resolving entities and maintaining it, indefinitely. Chordian Memory resolves entities at ingest, detects contradictions, tracks what was true and when, and maintains itself, with live data feeding it continuously.
| DIY knowledge graph | Chordian | |
|---|---|---|
| Time to first value | Months | Days |
| Entity resolution | Your team | Entity Coherence, at ingest |
| Live data | Separate pipelines | Built in (Chordian Search) |
| Maintenance | Ongoing headcount | Maintenance engine |
| Governance | Build it yourself | Zero Trust Infrastructure |
Keep the cloud. Skip the build.
Run Chordian in your cloud, instead of rebuilding it there.
Hyperscalers give you excellent building blocks. Turning them into governed data intelligence takes crawler and proxy operations, data cleaning and entity resolution, contradiction detection and memory maintenance, DLP, ABAC and audit, and a security review. Chordian deploys into your own AWS, Google Cloud or Azure account (BYOC). You keep the cloud, the keys and the perimeter, and skip the build.
| Build on hyperscaler | Chordian BYOC | |
|---|---|---|
| Time to production | 6–12 months | Weeks |
| Team | Data, ML, platform, security engineers | Your existing team |
| Ongoing ops | Crawlers, proxies, pipelines, evals | Managed by Chordian |
| Data location | Your VPC | Your VPC |
Sovereign doesn't have to mean starting from scratch.
For regulated buyers and governments: Chordian runs on-prem or fully air-gapped with the Chordian Sovereign Model. You get the same platform, the same API and a published accuracy trade-off (71.4% sovereign, 81.3% with governed frontier synthesis), without assembling and maintaining it yourself.
Buy intelligence, not reports.
Analysts, subscriptions and consultants, compared.
| Status quo | Chordian | |
|---|---|---|
| Data freshness | Snapshot at purchase or report date | Live, with scheduled updates |
| Coverage | One provider's database | Open web, registries and your systems, 195 countries |
| Data quality | Duplicates and conflicts hidden | Cleaned, resolved, conflicts flagged |
| Sources | Often unclear | On every finding |
| Your knowledge | In people's heads and inboxes | In a Knowledge Twin you own |
| IP protection | Shared with vendors and tools | Zero Trust, nothing trains a model |
| Cost | Per seat, per report, per project | Per usage, compounding value |
